Fresh Ripe Tomatoes.

At least the animals have left our tomatoes alone............at least for the moment anyway. There were 3 different varieties of tomatoes ripe enough to pick this morning. The orange ones are a new type that I tried this season. thinking that they would be less acidic than the red ones. I've grown yellow varieties before and they seemed to me to be less sharp, however this orange type is just as acidic as the red ones and just as delicious.

They look delicious Sue.
A very old lady once told me that she couldn't eat tomatoes as they were too acid, unless she added some sugar to them. In typical youthful fashion I ignored her, now that I too am old I find she was quite right! ;-)

I've never eaten tomatoes with sugar or even salt, I like them just as they are, yellow, orange or red. If however you do find them too acid, then I imagine sugar is the way to go. Sue
