Seen in a Country General Store.

Quite a novel way to display potatoes for sale I thought.

Textile from Vietnam.

My interpretation of an image from a bag bought in Vietnam.
Unfortunately the fine black wool fabric that I used warped when being embroidered, though it doesn't look as off kilter as it does here!

Monthly International Challenge Again.

Once again it's time for the monthly textile challenge;  the inspiration is to be drawn from a bag bought in Vietnam by one of the group members.
I have isolated one of the springs of foliage and will digitize the image and add the beads and the border.

I set myself the task at the beginning of the year to digitize the image each month, so as to keep up with my long ago learned digitizing skills.
Here is an isolated sprig of foliage.

And an Invitation Flyer.

This is the invitation flyer to the exhibition advertised on the board that I showed you yesterday.
Unfortunately since the invitation is printed on white card, the edges don't show up so it looks a little odd. Still it gives the idea of what it looks like.

                                                                 And here is the reverse.

Annual Exhibition.

I was asked to come up with a design for the Embroiderers Guild of Victoria's annual exhibition of textile art. The title I was given was 'Travellers Tales' so I decided to feature textile pieces from different cultures around the world. The middle piece is from India and does not belong to me, but the other 4 come from my collection and feature work from various countries that I have visited.
I think that it looks O.K., not too cluttered and with all the information easy to read. Unfortunately the board, at the edge of a park alongside a busy road got some marks on it quite quickly, birds maybe?

Fun Cushions.

I was so delighted with the drawings that my Grandson had made, that I photographed them, printed them onto fabric and appliqued them onto cushion covers. I just made simple covers with zippers in the back, and he was thrilled to bits.  They look great on his bed with all the toy animals reclining on them!

Wonderful Dinosaur Drawings.

Dinosaurs from the pencils of a 5 year old boy.

Seen at the U.K Eden Project.

What a wonderful way to use a collection of discarded electrical bits and pieces. Seen on a recent visit to the Eden Project in Cornwall, England.
